Katlyn Winegardner- research proposal

Katlyn Winegardner

I would like to know the different interpretations of dreams from a spiritual point of view, a scientific point of view, as well as if dreams affect people’s decision making. Is dreaming the same for someone with a mental disorder or a neurological disorder. What affects a person’s ability to dream or remember their dreams being that everyone has dreams. dreams Everyone has them. Each individual has around four to six dreams a night. Most of our dreams we forget. Express subconscious feelings whether it be fear, confidence, or lack thereof. Our mind creates these images and stories as we sleep.Rem sleep is when our brains are most active.Where? Dreams occur when you fall asleep within your brain. When? They are most vivid when in rem sleep. Why? Our brains are hard at work storing important information and disregarding information that can not be used or stored. How? dreams mainly occur in the rapid-eye movement stage of sleep—when brain activity is high and resembles that of being awake. REM sleep is revealed by continuous movements of the eyes during sleep.

Meaning and value of dreams differ by person.a spiritual person my interpret a dream as a sign that something will happen or you are headed in a specific direction.

Global Warming by Angely

In my research paper I’ll be speaking about Glowing warming, I believe this is something I can give a lot of information on since global warming has been going on for a lifetime. I will be focusing my research paper on the history of the greenhouse effect and global warming and what parts of the world are most affected and what we can we do as humans to help decrease global warming because like i mentioned before global warming has been going on forever and this doesn’t only affect just a few people this affects people worldwide. Global warming is a gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth’s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants. Everyday us humans cause global warming, a primary way is burning fossil fuels, this increases the amount of carbon in the atmosphere which leads to an increase in greenhouse effect. Svante Arrhenius is the swedish scientist who had claimed in 1896 that fossil fuel combustion may eventually result in enhanced global warming. He proposed a relationship between atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and temperature. In the map part of my research paper ill demonstrate the most affected areas in the world by this Global Warming.

The Problem With Plastics

Let’s start with we go outside everyday on our daily life with a bottle of water on our hands, a can of soda with a long plastic straw, a plastic bag with our groceries, or at parties the use of plastic with the decorations and balloons. All of these at one point was a good use for us but the real question is where all these waste go to? We can’t burn plastic because the fumes of the plastics can cause harm to the environment and get people sick. The use of plastic in general is increasing about 300 million tons of plastic waste every year and we don’t realize it is very dangerous for the sea animals, seabirds, and humanity. All these waste of plastic get accumulated into the ocean, the river, or a land creating patches of causing harm to the sea animals on which we eat everyday. The plastic that sea animals consumed mistakenly thinking it’s food passing the toxins from the plastic to the food chain than we end up consuming it as well making us get sick while the animals die from it. Also, some plastics don’t decompose fully which means it leaves behind smaller pieces called “MicroPlastics” meaning that it stays on the water forever. For this reason we should decrease the use of plastics to save many animals and also save our planet.

How can we reduce the amount of plastic that we use everyday?

Is it worth the use of plastic better than saving the animals?

What are other options besides throwing away plastics?

The fight against breast cancer

The fight against breast cancer

Breast cancer is the first cancer in women in both developing and developed countries. My learning will be based on the following questions: first, how can we diagnose breast cancer in women? second, how can we prevent breast cancer in women? and third, what is the symbol of breast cancer in women?. In the United States as everywhere in the world, many women are dying as a result or because of breast cancer. There now the government of America must force preventive measures to reduce the rate of breast cancer mortality in women. Breast cancer most begins in the glandular tissue called  lobules. The fight against breast cancer in women at the national or international  level must be based on noising public awareness of the breast cancer problems because many women do not know overweight  increases the risk of breast cancer especially in menopausal women. In addition many women do not know that having breast cancer significantly increases the risk of developing a second breast cancer. However all women should understand that physical activity is associated with decreased risk off breast cancer. By sensitizing women  then will understand that age heredity women they antecedents but also smocking alcohol overweight one a risk factor for breast cancer. That’s why it is recommended to have a regular gynecologist follow up for all women. Through consultation the gynecologist maybe required to prescribe a mammogram especially if it defects an abnormality.

Research Proposal by Georgia.

Functionality is a must in this time and age. In my research assignment the topic i have chosen “Autism is a Disability”. What have already know is that it is a disability because if you can’t function 100% in the world, understanding right from wrong or anything that has to do with cognitive thinking is a disability and a lot of people with autism are very highly functional but they lack something, which makes it fall under the disability umbrella. Autism, however can be defined as broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills , repetitive behaviors and non verbal communication. What i would like to find out is which borough in New York has the highest rate of people with autism, can they live on their own, do they really know what they are doing, and finally what are the causes. All over the world people raises questions and concern about autism. Where in the world did autism originally started, it started in forest Mississippi. What kind of behavior triggers autism, common triggers including disturbing breaks in routine, lack of sleep, noises, lights or smell. Which part of the brain is mostly affected is the the cerebellum and it reduces the size in parts of the cerebellum. Why do children with autism and intellectual disability have medical fears and phobias because they believe people will harm them. How is autism diagnosed, diagnosing autism can be difficult however doctors usually look at the child’s behavior and development to make diagnose.

New York City Roads .

For my research topic I have chosen New York City roads because they are one of the biggest economic downfalls in NYC. I will research the conditions in bridges, highways ,local streets and potholes. The map will illustrate where the most car accidents take place in the city. This topic interests me because Ive experince how terrible road conditions affect citizens safety. New Yorkers move throughout the city on foot, call an uber or ride New York City transit. There are people who’ve lived in New York City their entire lives without getting a driver’s license or knowledge of the road. Pedestrians are more likely to be killed by a stranger behind the wheel of a car due to rocky roads and road congestion. Most of these accidents occur in multilane thoroughfares and highways. New York has the most congested roads. New York is known for massive traffic which cause delays in commute. Whether it be the potholes in local streets, or uneven roadways on the borough’s highways and service roads, New York have grown far too comfortable to deteriorating economic infrastructure. Drivers have accidentally driven into a pothole or detoured because of highway construction. Much of New York City’s roads and bridges are reaching a point of decay, despite the billions of dollars spent on repair and reconstruction every year. Personally, I believe roads in New York are unsafe, congested, and have poor conditions that causes accidents.

Green New York

In my research essay I will be talking about the most huge and important green zones in New York city. Where are they located in New York city, who is in charged of those areas, How are they important for the environment, and also the impact that they have in our boroughs. Beyond Manhattan and Central Park, the city offers other large green spaces where nature reigns. there are 12 large areas called JIAs ( Joint of Interest areas) and their exception responds to their uniqueness, they are large areas of land that are of strategic importance for example for transport or urban as is the case with large green areas. It is important to take care of those areas and keep them as they are because our city is very crowded and we losing the nature little by little. Buildings, Infrastructures, and all type of constructions are transforming our city in a city without a green space, where you can go and enjoy the nature. If you look at  manhattan besides Central Park you will no find anything else than buildings, huge buildings that make New York  unique but what about the nature?, the environment we are creating will affect us soon or later.

city of woman’

The chapter on “city of New York” describes the different cities and different subways.  The author argues  into visibility in particular around question of the native  woman on the inferior clan. The men have the honor and many of them have their names on the street and in museums. We  can see an example on page 88 , a recent essay by Allison Meier. She shows that  there are five statues of the woman’s name in New York  city. Through this chapter, I learned the different between men and   women .

Reflection on city women

City of Women tries to talk about a world where women are in charge. Rebecca gives examples of the many things like streets, buildings, parks etc. that are named after men. This becomes very repetitive and her tone seems condescending. Almost making you feel like the dead men are looking down on you if your a women, putting themselves on a pedestal saying, “you can’t reach this level”.  While there are few statues of women the ones we have are “nobodies” as Rebecca puts it because they don’t have names, ” women are anonymous people who changed fathers for husbands names as they married” while they could have had a great impact on history behind the scenes they weren’t given any recognition. Women have always had to push for their power, Rebecca tries to image how empowered women would have felt if we had a city named after women.

City Of Women Reflection

The City of Women excerpt imbues me with fascination and curiosity.Unfortunately, not being exposed to such knowledge earlier in life as much as the accomplishments and establishments of men, kept me ignorant on this topic. Learning of such greatness and contribution really opens the eyes to see the true power and equality of our women.  This argument also presents an avenue of learning about which person and their actions originated from. For an example, there are song artists Im interested in that I never knew came from NYC. Finding out that females also play a gargantuan part in why the world has the great aspects it does, definitely humbles me into wanting to learn and listen to them way more Than I ever have before.
